BOARD GAME MAKING JOURNEY

What is this blog about?
It seems really strange writing a blog regularly but it is essential in helping provide something that might help others.
Whilst I'm sure many people aren't as crazy as me in wanting to create an entire business dedicated to developing affordable small batch production of games, I certainly think a blog is a great starting point even if its just as simple as helping them come up with ideas or ways to do things in the making of a game.
Eat, drink, breathe games.
After watching the film “Julie & Julia” I'm currently of the impression that I'm not dedicated enough to my blog. In the Film Julie set herself a challenge of 365 days to make 500+ recipes of Julia Child and write about it and whilst doing a full time job.
So… for someone in my position it shouldn't be as difficult. Yet for some reason I do find it difficult. I don't know what the problem is as I quite enjoy writing. I think it's more about how I'm perceived and judged (very self centred I know). Anyway today I thought I'd write about the Goals of On Demand Board Games in more depth and what challenges I will set myself and write about.
The current challenges I have are:
Make my board game “Sealed Orders” into a small batch production run, done entirely in house by me. I could and should write about this.
Have some amazing games and game related things for UKGE so that it will help me continue to grow On Demand Board Games and help me sustain and improve my lifestyle. I have some standing by which I just need to produce a small batch Run.
Start Building an Audience for people who may enjoy my games. Offer free print and play samples for subscribers.
Help more and more people play games they love by writing quick teaches and giving reviews of games. Write teaches and write reviews.
Help people looking to make board games come up with ideas and work out how to make them too. Explore and describe ways to turn the art I love, from books, films and TV into games.
So where have I started?
I chose a very simple game of Boop to write a quick teach about as a test blog. Then I wrote a “how to make a board game” blog touching on where to start. Now I'm writing this one after countless notes on my phone to add the next entry.
What is my overall blog goal?
To hit all 5 of the above challenges by writing and publishing something every day and to write and send one newsletter about it to my subscribers each week.
I would love to build my blogs audience to a few thousand before the end of the year. The first milestone of 10, then 100 then 200, then 500, then 1000. That's when I'll start to feel I've really achieved something quite special.
What will my newsletters contain?
A section on how the game/games I'm Currently working on are going. A unique discount code to download for subscribers to try out my print and play sample games for free. And a brief overview of reviews and teaches I've written that week.
To me, all of this sounds crazy as an undertaking. But I think this will be worth it in the end.
